Etymology[]
Ama-no-Iwato is Japanese for "the cave of the sun god." In Japanese mythology, Template:Ns, the Japanese god of the seas, drove Template:Ns, the sun goddess, into Ama-no-Iwato, causing the sun to disappear for years.
Its Japanese name is Amanoiwato.
