Antlan resembles a cross between an ant and a kuwagata (stag beetle) and uses ninja-like skills and attacks. They also have the ability to make certain parts of their bodies (mainly their antlers and their tails) grow in size. They are mainly known in the games for doing right and living to ensure justice. There is even a group of rare Antlans called the Antlan Rangers in Monster Rancher 4. If you use the Monster Rancher 4 disc in the game, you can get a either a Blue Antlan, Red Antlan, or a Yellow Antlan. Many of their designs and poses are reminiscent of Japanese Tokusatsu characters, particularly the Super Sentai.
Etymology[]
Its name comes from antoraa (アントラー, the Japanese transliteration of the English word antler), since its crest vaguely resembles the antlers (actually mouthparts) of a male stag beetle. Its name is also a play on words because it looks like an ant, a common type of insect.
