Battle for the Rookie Cup is the third episode of Season 3 and the fifty-first overall episode of the Monster Rancher anime series. It aired in Japan on April 22, 2001.

Genki and Mocchi take part in the first of six competitions that lead to the Legend Cup.

The heroes enter the Rookie Cup, and learn that instead of money, a Mystery Disc is the prize for 1st place. A Disc, according to Holly's senses, that contains Tiger! The evil Pink Jam hears about this, and conspires to get both Tiger's disc and the one with Moo's soul. As it just so happens, a Muddy Jell is entering the Rookie Cup…
Mocchi fights his way to the final round, and goes up against an unreasonably powerful Muddy Jell. Before the match can end, another Muddy Jell appears and reveals the truth- the one Mocchi's fighting is Pink Jam in disguise! Mocchi is able to prevail against Pink Jam, and Muddy Jell, seeing that Mocchi beat the monster than defeated him, wisely forfeits. The heroes win the Mystery Disc and unlock Tiger.
Meanwhile, not wanting to return to Durahan empty-handed, Pink Jam and his Jell troops abandon the Baddies.
