Golem is one of the seven Searchers, the main protagonists of the anime series. He is the third monster to join the team, after Holly, Mocchi, Suezo and Genki meet him in a fortress in the Morx Forest. Because he witnessed the battle of the fortress at a young age, Golem has been deeply disturbed by violence and staunchly against fighting ever since. He is the largest of the group, but because of his apprehension with being physical, he often stays behind to protect Holly during skirmishes with the Baddies.
In spite of his intimidating appearance and being the strongest of the gang, Golem is gentle and a pacifist at heart. His pacifistic mindset stemmed from witnessing the horrors of battle at the fortress at a young age, and he's been staunchly against fighting ever since. The aforementioned pacifistic mindset also made him often stay behind to protect Holly and become fond of flowers and beautiful things. But whenever provoked (when pressured into fighting or when Holly is harmed), Golem will immediately undergo a berserker rage and become merciless until he retakes control.
Because of his heavy body and inability to swim, Golem developed aqua phobia and becomes agitated when surrounded by large bodies of water he cannot cross without drowning, such as the ocean. Captain Horn, at first, did not take this seriously until he tried to test his swimming ability by dangerously kicking him off of his ship in the middle of the ocean.
