Jim is a former sailor whom the Searchers meet while he is managing a restaurant. Besides making the best pasta on the Northern Continent, he works part-time as a ferryman across the Yellow River with his companion, Eared Mew.
The Searchers ask Jim for passage across the river, and while they help him fix up his Ferry he and Genki have several squabbles over the ethics of choosing a side in the battle against Moo. Jim makes it clear that he will work for anyone who pays him, even the baddies. But when the Arrow Heads attack, he helps defend the kids.
At the end of the season, Monol reassures Genki that Jim finally has chosen a side, and is leading his own battle against Moo's forces.
