Kai is a Goatian native famous for trying to cheat and bribe his way to the top. After Miss Jenna warns you not to talk to him, he stops by your training area and tries to buy you off for an upcoming battle, promising to pay you 2,000 golds for losing on purpose. Fleria tells him that Jenna has already warned you about him, but he claims she is just jealous because she lost to him in a tournament.
Kai returns later and gives you a badge that he says will grant you access to a secret tournament called the Luna Battle. The winner is supposedly taught how to regenerate a Joker, which at that time in history were nearly unheard of. Mosha confirms the story, saying that she was invited to a similar event as a young breeder, but she and Jenna both caution you not to go.
When you do, it turns out Kai was lying and trying to lure you into a trap. However, the badge summons a mysterious man in a black cloak who actually owns a Joker, and as the price for summoning him, the Joker kills Kai's monster right in front of you.
