Exclusive to Monster Rancher 2, these monsters resemble alien-like robots with bodies shaped like flying saucers and faces resembling kachina dolls. They are rumored to have come from outer space, and are obtainable after a few special cutscenes at night where strange lights are seen followed by a crash on the horizon. Being extraterrestrial in nature, their attacks are often whimsical and eccentric, albeit still mechanical, making them similar to Henger. They excel at accuracy and defense, have the fastest Guts regain in the game, but suffer low stats in other areas.
Etymology[]
Metalner is named because it is made of shiny, lustrous metal. It could also be a mistranslation of Metaluna, the homeworld of the aliens from the 1955 movie This Island Earth.
Its Japanese name is Metarunā.

Obtaining[]
- To obtain a Metalner in Monster Rancher 2, you must be Rank 8 or higher and get the 2nd stable upgrade from Bint. On the first three weeks of September, you will be visited by aliens, however, this will ONLY occur if it is not raining on each week. Fortunately, the game can be reloaded until the week no longer has rainfall. On the third week with no rain, the aliens will talk to you and will give you a "Crystal" that you take to the shrine. From then on, Metalners will be unlocked through CDs.
- NOTE: You must visit the shrine with an active monster already in your possession in order to give the crystal to the Shrine Maiden. Visiting the shrine without an active monster with you will not trigger the sequence that unlocks Metalners.
