Monster Farm POP was the first game in the POP series, released as a Japanese smartphone game and not localized anywhere else. It was likely the predecessor to My Monster Rancher, as the two share a similar format and characters.

Similar in format to My Monster Rancher, monsters could be sent on timed expeditions to come back with items.
Monster Battles[]
The developers added an online battle feature that allowed you pick a location on the map, then choose any opponents who were currently in the same area (unknown if this was based on actual proximity of the other people playing the game or simply in-game proximity). You would send them an email challenging them to a battle, and if they were online at the time, you'd get a quicker response. If they accepted, you could face them in a tournament. This would be entirely based on your monsters' stats, as you were unable to give instructions during the battle. This was all AI-driven and relayed through the Battle Announcer.
