A feminine breed of cat-doll monster. When it originally appeared, it was made of wood and had curved horns on its head instead of ears. Its facial features were far more doll-like than cat-like. But eventually, it was renamed and redesigned with short red hair and a cat-like figure. Later, it was redesigned again with stuffed wings and a pincushion-like face. The horns also made a comeback.
Etymology[]
Its original MR1 name is meant to accentuate the fact that it is a woman. Its later name is simply a different way to express the same thing. The nicknames "mama" and "mum" are both titles for a mother in different countries.
Its Japanese name, Mamanyā, composed by the words "mama" and "Nyā" (the Japanese onomatopoeia for a cat's meow, as well as Mew's Japanese name), is a direct equivalent of its English name.
