Ryan is one of Master Oswald's most promising students, but does not agree with his stance that the only reason for playing Battle Cards is to become a monster breeder. Ryan faces you in a card duel at the Mandy Church one afternoon and after he loses, he tells Oswald that he honestly believes you to be the more focused and better fighter even though you are doing it for fun.
