Suzurins are doll-like monsters that are shaped like bells and first appeared in Monster Rancher Explorer as a collectible bonus item during levels. Once you got the Bell item, the Suzurin would appear and wander around the level until you were able to capture it. If you captured ____ Suzurins before losing all of your lives, you would recieve an extra life. Also, using the Alf Doll item turns all monsters in the level into Suzurins.
Later Suzurins became available as an unlockable monster in Monster Rancher 3. While they don't have any outstanding stats, their defense or intelligence stats tend to be their best. Suzurins weren't mentioned much (especially in Monster Rancher Advance 2) because their attacks were rather poor, and the ones that did noticeable damage had abysmal accuracy rates. They received a major upgrade in Monster Rancher 4, with many of their attacks upgraded to higher damage and accuracy rates.
The name Suzurin comes from a combination of the words suzerain, a feudal lord in some countries known to wear large hats, and the word ring, the sound a bell makes.
