Tesca is one of the oldest and wisest people on the Northern Continent. Around the time of Monster Rancher 1, he retires from being a breeder to become a breeding/training instructor at FIMBA. Since she trained under him to get her breeder assistant's license, Holly often asks him for advice, especially when a monster dies and she needs emotional support. She eventually becomes his favorite pupil, and he takes her on as an apprentice.
Tesca's amazing skill in monster training and battling eventually earns him the title of Master, and he is known as one of the four living legendary breeders. At one point, you search him out because of his knowledge of ancient hieroglyphs, which he calls the "monster alphabet."
After Holly transfers to AGIMA, Tesca (now spelled Teska) shows up as your opponent in the Amnity Cup. He tells Holly that he asked them to send him because he wanted to check her progress in the new organization.
